Mounds View City Council June 26, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 18 <br />Ms. Amundsen clarified that her neighboring business' decibel meter was used, and that Fridley <br />has a decibel that is allowed. She clarified that the business voluntarily tested their decibels and <br />reduced the noise. <br />Mayor Marty suggested that Mr. Waste work with the Police Department to correct such issues <br />and applauded Mr. Waste on his willingness to address the issues. <br />MOTION/SECOND: THOMAS/MARTY. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6833 an <br />On Sale Intoxicating Liquor License Renewal for Robert's Sports Bar and Entertainment located <br />at 2400 County Road H2. <br />Ayes — 5 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />F. Resolution 6852 Approving Rotary Club Membership. <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated this item was discussed at the June 5"' City Council work <br />session. He stated it was the consensus of the Council to invite the president of the New <br />Brighton/Mounds View Rotary Club, Mr. George Winiecki, to a Council meeting to introduce <br />himself, answer questions, and explain the benefits of the Rotary membership. <br />Mr. Winiecki presented the Council with information about the Rotary Club. He explained <br />Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders and that members of <br />club are involved in all aspects of business and government. He said they have mayors, real- <br />estate developers, Council members, school superintendents, principals, and many private and <br />public sector members. <br />Mr. Winiecki stated the Rotary Club provides community and humanitarian services, promotes <br />high ethical standards and promotes peace throughout the world. IIe explained that there are <br />many rotary clubs throughout the world. <br />Mr. Winiecki said that the Rotary Club has made several contributions throughout the area. IIe <br />stated for example, that the club in Mounds View returns the funds they raise back into the <br />community. He noted that $600 was contributed to a Mounds View Park, that they contributed <br />to a youth latch -key program through Community Partners to Youth latchkey program in, and <br />also gave money to the Northwest Youth and Family Service. <br />Mr. Winiecki said the club gives to the local food shelf. IIe said they used to distribute food <br />directly to the citizens, but that working with the food shelf is more efficient. IIe said they have <br />a large Easter egg hunt which includes 700-800 children. <br />Mr. Winiecki stated the explained that they contribute to CEAF, the Community Emergency <br />Assistance Fund, which assists people who have needs for emergency money. IIe stated they <br />hold people accountable. IIe explained that they also organize a carnival for children who have <br />Spina bifida. <br />
