Spring Lake Park Fire Department Memorandum <br /> To : Clark Arneson, Blaine City Manager <br /> Jim Erikson, Mounds View City Administrator <br /> Barb Nelson, Spring Lake Park City Administrator <br /> Chris Olson, Safety Services Division Manager, Police Chief <br /> From: Nyle Zikmund, Fire Chief <br /> Date: March 12, 2009 <br /> Re : 2009 Proposed Operating and Capital Budget Adjustments <br /> FORMULA <br /> City 2009 Formula 2008 Formula <br /> Blaine 74. 39% 74 .29% <br /> Mounds View 15 .36% 15 . 35% <br /> Spring Lake Park 10.25% 10.43 % <br /> OPERATING: <br /> In response to our discussion at the last quarterly managers meeting, we have reduced our <br /> operating budget by 3 .3 % or $56,658, and our capital budget by $ 15 ,0004 <br /> Cuts in the operating budget included reductions in training, elimination of our cleaning <br /> contract, utilities savings, dues and subscriptions, mortal equipment, elimination of two <br /> phone lines, and reduced computer expenses. <br /> This equates to the following reductions based upon the 2009 formula: <br /> Blaine $42, 148 <br /> Mounds View $ 8,703 <br /> Spring Lake Park $5 ,807 <br /> CAPITAL : <br /> We eliminated $ 10,000 for routine maintenance and $5 ,000 for the joint training facility. <br /> This equates to the following reductions based upon the 2009 formula: <br /> Blaine $ 11 , 158 <br /> Mounds View $2,304 <br /> Spring Lake Park $ 1 ,538 <br /> REPAYMENT: <br /> It is my understanding and my preference that we issue checks back to the cities. Since <br /> we have a quarterly meeting coming up in less than a month, I suggest we clarify at that <br /> time. <br />
