CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW Exhibit A <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br />December 30, 1998, 7:00 pm <br />Minutes <br />Commissioners present: Frank Silvis, Gary Stevenson, Mary Benz, Stan McDonald and Sherry <br />Gunn. <br />Staff present: Chuck Whiting, Bruce Kessel, Tracy Sanchez, Mike Ulrich, Sharie Linke (Banquet <br />Facility Manager), Terri Blattenbauer and Pat Riemersma (YMCA). <br />Mayor elect, Dan Coughlin also present. <br />Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Chair, Frank Silvis. <br />Chuck Whiting, City Administrator, began with welcomming and thanking everyone for attending. <br />Introductions were done individually around the room. <br />Chuck discussed with staff and commission the changes taking place and looked to them for their <br />expectations. Issues that were brought up: The continuation of MRPA membership, joint powers <br />with forestry, the Spring tree sale, and the donation of $103,000 by Anthony Properties. There <br />was continued discussion on the availability of those funds. There are additional needs inside the <br />Community Center such as basketball goals, and sand volleyball courts outside. The Commission <br />was informed that the ice rinks were open Saturday, December 26. <br />Chuck also discussed with everyone roles of staff in regards to operations and budget. The <br />Commission has established a 5 year budget. Capital outlay will be an agenda item for the next <br />meeting. <br />It was determined that every 4th Wednesday will be the scheduled Parks and Recreation <br />Commission meetings at City Hall in the Council Chambers. Meeting time will be 7:00 pm <br />monthly. <br />Sharie shared some dates of events: January 24, 1-4 pm is an open house at the Community <br />Center, and January 16 and 24 are also events. Invitations were extended to the Commission <br />Pat shared the status of the Recreation programs for Winter. Past winter programs are in pla: c <br />and nearly all staffed. The start date will have to be delayed one week due to production and <br />delivery of the Mounds View Matters Newsletter. Approximately 85% of the hours at the ice <br />rinks were also staffed at this time. <br />A tour of the Community Center followed the meeting. <br />Meeting adjourned 9:00 pm. <br />Next meeting: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27, 1999, 6:30 PfNJ
