N <br />Mr. Joseph M. Baker is the oldest son of Donald W. Baker and Mary A. <br />Baker. <br />Joe Baker was born June 6, 1955, attended grade school in Maple Wood, <br />Minnesota, attended junior high school and high school in White Bear Lake, <br />Minnesota. <br />Joe Baker graduated from White Bear Lake•High School in the upper 10 <br />per cent of his class. He won athletic honors in baseball, football and <br />hockey. After graduating from high school, Joe Baker was recruited to play <br />college football for a number of schools but decided to play Junior A hockey <br />for the St. Paul Vulcans and Coach Doug Woog for a year before going on to <br />college. During this year Joe Baker worked at Otto's Liquor Store in <br />Mendota, Minnesota. <br />Herb Brooks recruited Joe Baker to play hockey for the University of <br />Minnesota, which he did for the following 4 years. Joe did have a chance <br />to play for two National Champions in 1976 and again in 1979. Joe is the <br />Gopher part of the Gopher -Shamrock. <br />After leaving the University, Joe joined his father at the Sterling <br />Investment, Inc. Company and has worked there full time since.
