MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council
' FROM: Clerk-Administrat
DATE: September 8, 1982
SUBJECT: POLICE DEPARTMENT PART-TIME CLERK TYPIST
Attached please find a memorandum from Police Chief Grabowski,
along with appropriate attachments, indicating that the Department's
part-time clerk typist, Laurie Jonason, resigned effective
September 2, 1982 in order to return to school and a recommendation
for the employment of Linda Meyer, who had also applied for
Ms. Jonason's position in June of 1982.
Staff would request Council direction on the following items:
1. Acceptance or rejection of the hiring of Ms. Meyer for the
clerk typist position effective September 20, 1982 at a wage
of $4.50 per hour, not to excead 20 hours per week.
2. A determination from the Council as to when the applications
for a position with the City are to be considered no longer
acceptable as the sole source of applicants for the refilling
of that position or for use in considering the filling of
another City position. It is staff's recommendation that
once applications are 120 days or older that the City advertise
for the vacancy they are attempting to fill, as well as using
any applications they might have on file which are still active.
Your direction in these two items will be greatly appreciated.
DFP/pf
Attachments
