July 12,1982 <br />CRITERIA FOR IDENTIFICATION OF PRELIMINARY AREAS <br />INVENTORY OF PROCESSING AREAS (METRO SEARCH) <br />CHEMICAL TREATMENT AND TRANSFER/STORAGE <br />MANDATORY— .Avoid shore lands, flWdplains and protected wetlands. <br />Area must be planned or zoned for industry. <br />• Area must have city sewer service available or access to receiving stream <br />within I mile. <br />Area must be within 2 miles of a 9-ton industrial route. <br />OPTIONAL -- I. Prefer existing or planned compatible industrial development <br />(i.e., chemical related, manufacturing, plating, oil storage, etc.) <br />2. Prefer close access to major roadways: <br />a. within 2 miles of an interstate exit <br />b. within I mile of a major 2-lane or 4-lane 9-ton industrial route. <br />3. Prefer areas which provide buffer from major residential developments. <br />4. P'refer soil and aquifer conditions that offer natural protection over <br />that designed into the facility. <br />INCINERATION <br />MANDATORY— • Avoid shorelands, floodplains and protected wetlands. <br />• Avoid oreos which are planned or zoned for light industry. <br />• Area must have city sewer service available or access to receiving stream <br />within I mile. <br />-Area must be within 2 miles of a 9-ton industrial route. <br />• Area must provide a buffer from major residential developments. <br />OPTIONAL — I.
