KARDELL AS PUBLIC WORKS <br />FOREMAN AND REORGANIZATION OF PUBLIC WORKS/ <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT <br />Mr. Kardell assumed the duties as Public Works Foreman June 21, <br />1982. His sixth month probationary period will, therefore, end <br />December 21, 1982. <br />Staff has held several discussions concerning evaluation of the <br />reorganization program. These discussions have brought to light <br />several items that should be discussed and resolved before final <br />action is taken concerning permanent status of the foreman position. <br />Mr. Kardell has indicated that he would accept the Foreman's job <br />as currently structured. Mr. Kardell would like to reevaluate the <br />weekend "on call" program to see if it can be improved from his <br />standpoint. Mr. Kardell is also agreeable to postponement of the <br />final decision on the permanent status until January, 1983 with the <br />understanding that the pay difference would be retroactive (previous <br />Council action approved an increase of $500.00 per year upon success- <br />ful completion of probation. This is $19.23 per two week pay period.). <br />Staff:, therefore, recommends continuing action on the permanent <br />status of the Public Works Foreman position until a thorough discus- <br />sion and evaluation of the reorganization has taken place in January, <br />1983. <br />if you have any questions, please contact me. <br />JCJ/bc <br />
