MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Development
DATE: January 20, 1983
SUBJECT: TEMPORARY SIGN PERMIT
The Planning Commission, at their January 19th Agenda meeting,
discussed the request by Mr. Dan McFarlane to be able to place
temporary signs at various commercial and/or industrial locations
in the City. Mr. McFarlane appeared at the January 10, 1983
regular meeting requesting approval from the City Council. The
Council requested Planning Commission input in regards to this
item prior to a decision being made. After discussion by the
Planning Commission, the following comments are being referred
back to the City Council:
1) A "blanket" permit be given for the specific type of
sign Mr. McFarlane is proposing.
2) That Mr. McFarlane be licensed with the City and that
he maintain the proper amounts of insurance or provides
bonding, at stated in Chapter 39.
3) That a site plan/application be submitted to the City
depicting the exact location where each sign will be
located.
4) That each location will be administratively approved as
each application is received per the location or setback
provisions of Chapter 39.
The Planning Commission also suggested that the City Council may
wish to establish specific time limits that a sign could be located
at a specific location and may also desire to limit the number of
times a sign could be installed at a specific location (i.e., a
maximum of three. 14-day periods in a year).
Attached to this memo is a memo from the Engineering/Planning
Technician to the Planning Commission along with a diagram of the
proposed sign.
Should you have any questions on any of the above material, please
contact me.
/be
attachment
cc: Planning Commission
Don Pauley
