Mounds View City Council January 24, 1983. <br />Regular Meeting JPage Two <br />---------------------------- <br />------------------------------- -------------- <br />Harry Davis introduced himself as the representative 5. Considers <br />llp <br />from the Golden Gloves program, and requested that of Requea <br />the City waive the fee for the Golden Gloves boxing from Golde? <br />program. Mr. Davis explained the program and it's Gloves for <br />funding, and answered questions from the Council. Refund of $100 <br />He explained that they would like to be able to Boxing Event <br />support a gym in Mounds View, and they way they License Fee <br />support their gyms is by holding exhibition boxing <br />matchs, but that they could not afford the $100 <br />license fee. <br />James O'Hara introduced himself as the executive <br />secretary of the Minnesota State Boxing Commission, <br />and explained he was speaking as a volunteer for the <br />boxing program. Mr. O'Hara reviewed the <br />procedure that is followed to insure the safety of <br />the participants. He also reviewed the insurance <br />program they have. <br />Mayor McCarty stated he has very strong feelings for <br />programs for youth, and that he would not let his <br />personal feelings for boxing interfere. <br />Motion/Second: McCarty/Linke to refund the $100 paid <br />or the a license, and grant the license waiving the <br />fees. <br />_� 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />Mayor McCarty asked the Council to adjust the agenda <br />further so that he could give his State of the City <br />address, as required by the Charter. <br />Motion/Second: Doty/Blanchard to allow Mayor McCarty <br />to present his State of the City address. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion Carried <br />Mayor McCarty read his prepared message to the <br />Council. He stated he would make a copy available <br />with the Clerk/Administrator. <br />Motion/Second: McCarty/Doty to remove Items E, F 6. Approval of <br />and H from the consent agenda for discussion. Consent Agenda <br />5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />Motion/Second: Doty/Hankner to approve the consent <br />agenda, m minus Items E, F and H, and waive the reading <br />of the resolutions. <br />5 ayes 0 nays Motion Cad <br />
