39.14 <br />(3) There shall he no more than two (2) feet• of space between <br />the inner edge of any such sign and the face of the wall from which <br />its projects, nor shall the outer edge of the sign be more than <br />eight (8) feet from the face of the wall. <br />(4) The building or structure from which any such sign projects <br />and all attachments or fastenings must be so constructed as to <br />safely resist the dead load and the wind load added by the attached <br />sign. <br />(5) All such signs shall be of non-combustible materials or of <br />not less than one hour fire resistive construction. <br />Subdivision 6. Roof Signs; Construction and Design. The <br />following standards shall be maintained for all roof signs: <br />(1) No roof sign shall be located nearer than five (5) feet from <br />the outside wall toward which it faces, nor exceed twenty-five (25) <br />feet in height above the roof level of the building unless constructed <br />integral with the building or structure, nor shall it project beyond <br />the edge of said roof in any direction. For the purposes of this <br />subdivision, lights attached to the sign structure and lights attached <br />to the building and beamed toward the sign structure shall be con- <br />sidered part of the sign structure. <br />(2) Every such sign shall be either ;etal, metal clad, incombus- <br />tible, open wire or open metal clad, except that such sign may have <br />letters, figures, characters, or borders of wood if such borders do <br />not exceed four (4) inches in width, and such wooden letters, figures <br />or characters do not cover more than twenty-five (25) percent of the <br />area of such sign, provided that in place of sheet metal, substitution <br />may be made of the following materials; tempered pressed wood or <br />other similar materials approved by.the Building Inspector, having <br />equal properties as to strength, fire and moisture resistance. <br />(3) No such sign shall be so placed as to prevent free passage <br />of persons from one part of the roof to another. <br />(4) The building or structure upon which such such sign is placed, <br />and all attachments or fastenings must be so constructed as to <br />safely resist the dead load and the wind load added by the attached <br />sign, and in such a manner as not to cause damage to the building or <br />structure on which such sign is placed. <br />(5) No roof sign shall be more than sixty-five (65) feet in <br />length nor shall it extend more than twenty-five (25) feet above the <br />surface of the roof of the building on which it is located. No roof <br />sign shall extend more than forty-five (45) feet above the average <br />ground level of that part of the street toward which it faces. <br />Subdivision 7. Wall signs; Construction and Design. The <br />following standards shall be maintained for all wall signs- <br />(1) No wall sign shall have a projection over a private sidewalk <br />or an established building line of more than twelve (12) inches. <br />
