• MEMO TO: City Council and Clerk -Administrator <br />FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Development <br />DATE•': March 30, 1983 <br />SUBJECT: SIGN ORDINANCE - CHAPTER 39 <br />The Planning Commission, at their March 2, 1983 meeting, recom- <br />mended revisions to Chapter 39 entitled, "Signs and Billboards". <br />The main emphasis of changes that are being recommended are as <br />they relate to temporary type signs. New definitions for banners <br />and portable signs are being recommended with this change in <br />addition to size and time limitations for the placement of these <br />types of signs. <br />Should the Council agree with the recommendations of the Planning <br />Commission, staff should be directed to draft an ordinance for <br />publication on April 14th with first reading of the ordinance and <br />public hearing on April 25th, second reading on May 9th, and publi- <br />cation on May 12th, with the ordinance being effective thirty days <br />after the date of publication. <br />If you have any questions concerning these revisions, please contact <br />me. <br />/be <br />
