MAUREEN THIELF.N, FOR <br />UUTLING THE DUTIES OF THE CI'ras PART-TIME AQUATICS DIRECTOR (�J/ <br />i <br />The Iollowing memorandum of understanding is hereby entered into <br />between the City of Mounds View and Ms. Maureen Thielen to <br />perform and provide the services of a part-time aquatics director <br />which will include but not he limited to the following scope and <br />perameters: <br />THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE PART TIME AQUATICS <br />DIRECTOR WILL BE TO ORGANIZE, DIRECT, IMPLEMENT AND <br />COORDINATE THE CITY'S AQUATICS PROGRAM AT BOTH THE <br />EDGEWOOD POOL AND LAKESIDE PARK BEACH WHILE <br />COORDINATING AND INTERFACING WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />AND SURROUNDING MUNICIPALITIES. <br />The major areas of accountability for Ms. Thielen will be as <br />follows: <br />1. Responsible for the supervision, hiring, and evaluation of <br />all beach and pool personnel including lifeguards, water <br />safety instructors, applicable maintenance personnel and <br />related aquatics employees. <br />2. Responsible for scheduling the working hours, rotation <br />and staff needs of all aquatic personnel at both the pool <br />and swimming beach area. <br />3. Assign work duties to assure that all related waterfront <br />activities are addressed in an efficient and effective <br />manner to include lifeguarding, first aid, maintenance <br />and general pool cleanliness. <br />4. Responsible for preparation of all time sheets, Red Cross <br />certification cards and other written materials as requested <br />by the Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry. <br />5. Responsible for establishing and creating an in-house train- <br />ing program for all aquatics personnel to include but not <br />limited to rules, regulations, safety procedures, use of <br />safety equipment, general pool and beach techniques. <br />6. Responsible for coordinating with related agencies involved <br />with the Edgewood Community Center and pool program to <br />include but not limited to municipal recreation departments, <br />USSR swim club, local community groups, civic organizations <br />and local businesses. <br />7. Direct and coordinate the preparation of a year-round swim- <br />ming program which will be mailed to all school district <br />residents promoting swimming opportunities available through- <br />out the city and school district. <br />8. Oversee a variety of public relations activities designed to <br />make the most effective use of available promotional possi- <br />bilities through local media, flyers, school announcements, <br />letter correspondence, etc. and follow through to evaluate, <br />to the possible extent the success of such endeavors. <br />
