rJune 2.1, 1983
Mr. Duane McCarty
City of Mounds View
2401 N.E. Highway 10
New Brighton, MN 55112
Dear Mr. McCarty:
I want to take this opportunity to present to you a problem that
exists within the City of Mounds View and suggest an alternative
to correct the situation.
In September of 1982 the Edgewood Junior High School was replaced
by the Edgewood Community Center at the school closing. It was
brought to my attention that approximately three to four years ago
Mr. Christian donated a 10' easement to the City of Mounds View
for a public walkway between Bona and Edgewood Drives, for ease
and accessability to the Junior High School. When the school
closed in 1982 the walkway remained open. Due to the closing of
the school, some of the traffic has been eliminated, but unfortun-
ately a certain amount of vandalism and a large amount of trespas-
sing on private property has not been.
In our own personal experience since acquiring the house at 5101
Edgewood Drive (adjacent to the South side of the walkway), we
have had at least five acts of vandalism and theft on our home.
Since the walkway is North of the cross street Woodcrest, a large
number of the persons who would utilize the walkway simply walk up
the South border of our property as opposed to using the walkway.
There appears to be only one viable solution to ease the
situation:
To build a chain link fence up the South side
of the walkway from Bona Drive to Edgewood Drive
and running from the walkway South approximately
80 ft. to the Southern property border between the
two houses on the South side of the walkway. This
would eliminate the problem of trespassing and
damage resulting from trespassing.
This courtesy was extended to the homeowner on the
North side of the walkway.
