MEMO TO: Mayor and City Council
!"1 FROM: Clerk -Administrator
DATE: October 3, 1983
SUBJECT: FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET
Attached please find copies of the 1984 Fire Department Budget as
negotiated by the Administrators of Spring Lake Park, Mounds View,
and Blaine.
As indicated in a memorandum to you dated September 22, 1983, this
budget calls for an 8% increase over the 1983 budget and a net
increase of $4,695 to the City of Mounds View. The budget has been
reviewed in great detail and reflects significant reductions from
the first draft budget presented by Chief Fagerstrom. Some of the
changes between the first draft budget and the one you are being
presented are an elimination of the funding for the construction of
a new fire hall and administrative offices in Blaine to replace the
fire hall attached to the Blaine City Hall, elimination of funding
for a part-time clerical position and a full-time fire inspector
position, elimination of funding for a vehicle allowance of $1.00
per meeting and training session for each fireman, and elimination
of funding for the use of a consultant to assist the Fire Department
in purchasing a microprocessing system with an agreement that the
three cities will provide assistance to the Fire Department in
evaluating their needs and the equipment available on the open
market as it would relate to their needs.
RECO14MENDATIO14: Staff would recommend the adoption of this budget
by the V=ew City Council at their regular meeting on
October 24th.
DFP/pf
Attachment
