-2- <br />Staff has contacted a number of references for the John Deere <br />1050 and the tractor has proven to be in extromely reliable ma- <br />chine and should more than meet our current public works needs. <br />As you are aware, we have $16,500 budgeted for the purchase of <br />this tractor and staff would like the City Council to consider <br />purchasing the one additional option of a front-end loader for <br />the tractor, model #75 with a ballast box at a cost of $1,825.99. <br />With the purchase of this tractor, we would he $428.52 over the <br />alloted amount. Staff recommends this for two reasons; the first <br />is with the trade-in of the International loader, we will be <br />losing our 60" bucket and secondly, the bid price of $1,825.99 is <br />approximately $1,000 below the cost of the comparable front-end <br />loader. I spoke with City Administrator Pauley on this issue, <br />and he indicated that we are able to go 10% over the budgeted <br />revenue sharing amount and would ask that the City Council <br />consider this additional purchase as proposed. <br />Staff will be on hand to review the recommendations at Monday <br />evening's Council meeting. <br />RECOMMENDATION: To purchase one 1984 John Deere 4-wheel drive • <br />tractor with Cozy cab and John Deere 666 front mounted two stage <br />snow blower and John Deere 72" mid -mount mower and John Deere 75 <br />loader with ballast box at a total cost of 516,928.52 with the <br />monies to be appropriated out of the City's revenue sharing <br />account. <br />8KA/sll <br />• <br />
