January 23, 1984 <br />Mounds View City Council 1, ? r' Page Five <br />Regular Meeting <br />--------------k- hh L• 'r ; i I/ 1'._, -----g <br />--------------- ------------------------------ --- <br />^ Park Director Anderson reported the year end forest- 16 <br />ry report had been submitted, and the joint powers <br />agreement program with New Brighton is working very <br />well; this is the first year more trees have been <br />put in than taken out; he advised the Council of <br />the potential for a gypsy moth problem; the com- <br />posting program was very successful, and he reviewed <br />the statistics, with Ramsey County wanting to open <br />the site again in the Spring, however, Mounds View <br />does not have the capability to be open twice a year. <br />Park Director Anderson reported the new dump truck <br />is up and running, and the tractor has been ordered <br />and should arrive later this week. Park maintenance <br />was the best its been in the past five years, with a <br />full time evening crew for flooding the rinks, and <br />skating conditions have been excellent. Senior <br />citizens have been involved in the warming house <br />program, and it has worked out well. The City has <br />also had luck with having the shelter buildings open. <br />The City has received preliminary funding for a 35% <br />F,rant for a jogging trail at Silver Lake Park, and <br />he will be talking to Burger King to see if they <br />are willing to assist. <br />The guidelines have been established for the park <br />planning fund, with a $2,000 check being received <br />from Honeywell. The Groveland Park association <br />has raised over $6,000 and completed many projects, <br />and he reviewed their newsletter. <br />Park Director Anderson reviewed the heai*_hy lifestyle <br />wellness program, which is just getting off the ground. <br />a.,;�oA r ar.. three new leagues were started this <br />�,r ate._ h. g 01_ __ L,,,.1,,,,, <br />past year, adult ice hockey, 4 man adult L.LUU1. „�111.,, <br />and 4 man team boot hockey for youths. The Edgewood <br />Community Pool was also painted over the Christmas <br />holiday break. <br />Finance Director Brager reported the far budgetthe wasit <br />adopted, and they are gearing up <br />year end financial reports. The department has been <br />very active with the computer, and the utility bills <br />are now computerized, and they are working on the <br />micro computer/word processor to allow doing entry <br />from City Hall.
