Mayor <br />McCarty replied that he was not, at this time. <br />Motion/Second: Hankner/Linke to call for the <br />question <br />3 ayes 2 nays <br />Mayor McCarty and Councilmember Doty voted against <br />the motion, which then failed, lacking a 4/5 vote. <br />Mayor McCarty stated the Council had stated they <br />would prefer to have him making the commission <br />appointment recommendations. <br />Councilmember Hankner pointed out no formal motion <br />was made to that effect, and she does not see any <br />need to make a specific motion relieving the Mayor <br />of any duty, as the State law explains itself. <br />Councilmember Doty stated he had voted against <br />the motion, not because of the person but because <br />of the policy change. <br />Mayor McCarty stated it has always been the policy <br />of the Council to reappoint commission members who <br />have not been shown to have committed misfeasence <br />in office, and that as part of the process this <br />year, those icicnrduent c rnmiasiorcrso-r he Wished to <br />continue service to the City were automatically <br />reappointed, and that it was understood that if <br />an incumbent was not to be reappointed, that <br />person would receive specific reasons in writing <br />from the Council, which could be completely aired <br />at a public hearing. He added that in this parti- <br />cular case, he feels the commissioner was not <br />given the opportunity and courtesies he should <br />have received, nor was there a proven case of <br />malfeasence, and removal was arbitrary. <br />Councilmember Blanchard had no report. <br />Councilmember Doty reported the ditch repair work <br />on County Road H2 and Long Lake Road appears to <br />be going along well. <br />Councilmember Doty reported he would not be able <br />to attend the City Dinner planning meeting on <br />February 15, as he will be out of town. <br />Councilmember Linke reported he would not be able <br />Motion Failed <br />
