Redefine the role of the Metropolitan Transit Commission <br />POSITION: <br />The Committee recommends that the KC and its consultants follow this matter <br />closely as the Legislative Commission on Transit Issues will he making <br />recommendations for changes in the role of the: MTC. <br />LEGISLATIVE ISSUE: <br />2. Retain the "Opt Out" option for municipalities 14a4eaHAW4 served <br />by the MTC <br />POSITION: <br />The "Opt out" pruvisiun provides some suburban comirxmities with an oopor- <br />tunny to use a portion of the funds derived from their taxpayers to improve <br />local transit service. "Opt out" currently is the only vehicle some cumm<m- <br />ities have for obtaining un appropriate level of transit service in their <br />rnmmmilies, The Committee recommends that the 14LC and its consultants <br />oppose, any action which would remove the npt out feature. <br />
