MEMO TO: Mayor and City Counc
r
FROM: Clerk-Administrat
DATE: April 11, 1984
SUBJECT: METROPOLITAN COUNCIL A-95NOTIFICATION OF METROPOLITAN
AIRPORTS COMMISSION NOTICE OF INTENT TO APPLY FOR
FEDERAL FUNDS
Attached please find correspondence received by this office from
the Metropolitan Council under the A-95 review program relating
to the Metropolitan Airports Commission notice of intent to apply
for Federal funds for Master Plan IB Development of the Anoka
County -Blaine Airport.
You will note from the correspondence from the Metropolitan Airports
Commission that the Commission intends to apply for $1.7 million
dollars in Federal funds for Phase IB improvements to the Anoka
County -Blaine Airport which are comprised of the movement of the
existing north/south runway 950 feet to the north, extension of the
east/west runway to a total length of 4,000 feet, and expansion of
the hangar construction area.
Should the Council wish to do so, a letter can be submitted to the
Metropolitan Council describing the effects this project might have
on our community, however, it is unlikely that the Metropolitan
Council will take any action to prohibit this development as they
did approve the Master Plan which called for this work. Staff
would request Council direction in this matter.
DFP/pf
Attachment
