Anderso e o
Parks, Recreatio d res ry
DATE: May 10, 1984
RE: Groveland Park Remuneration
As you are aware, the Groveland Park Foundation and the surround-
ing Groveland Park residents once again coordinated a very suc-
cessful volunteer warming house supervision program during the
1983-84 winter skating program. The volunteer lead=rship at
Groveland Park worked a total of 35 hours per week for eight
weeks plus an additional 40 hours during the Christmas break
allowing for a total of 320 hours. Based on the pay rate of
$3.75 per hour which was the rate we paid each of our winter
warming house attendants, a total number of volunteer dollars of
$1,200 was saved by the City. As was agreed upon through prior
staff reports, staff would recommend that a check would be draf-
ted to the Groveland Park Foundation in the amount of $1,200
based on the foundation's signing the attached contract that
stipulates that the dollars will be spent on related park pro-
jects.
The foundation has worked with staff on a number of projects
already this spring and we have completed a major landscaping
project around the building as well as beginning initial plans
for the construction of a tennis court in the next two to three
years.
Should you have any questions regarding the attached contract
with the Groveland Park Foundation, feel free to contact myself
directly at 784-3055, ext. #41.
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize the payment of $1,200.00 to the
Groveland ParR Foundation based on 320 volunteer hours of labor
during the 198.3-84 winter skating program at Groveland Park with
the monies to be utilized for local park improvements.
BKA/sll
