JOHNSON CONSULTING CIVI L ENGINEER Trailer Park Entrance Per your request I have conducted an analysis of the necessary storm sewer improvements near the trailer park entrance onto Belle Lane. The existing situation is that several pipes and culverts discharge into an open ditch south of the driveway which in turn flows into a 42-inch storm sewer under the trailer park and outlets in the I-35W ramp ditch on the east side of the trailer park. The drainage basin which includes the trailer park area and the area westerly of Jackson Street, north of County Road H2, south of Erickson Drive/Pinewood School and west of the Trailer Park is approximately 118 acres. Analysis indicates existing pipes limit downstream flow rates. The limiting pipes will cause ponding to occur near County Road H2, behind the homes north of Lambert Park, behind the homes north of Bronson (between Jackson and Quincy), in Quincy Street between Lambert and Belle Lane, and within the trailer park. The existing system will need some modifications; durationa in particular long Quincy Street to reduce ponding volumes during shortnd 10 year rainfalls. This should be coordinated with the NSA work on Quincy Street. Taking the above into consideration the proposed pipe segment should be sized to handle flows if and when system is upgraded. RECOMMENDATION: The proposed storm sewer section near the trailer park entrance onto Belle Lane should be a 30 or 36-inch diameter pipe approximately 20 feet long assuming a pipe slope of 0.3 percent.
