Mounds View City Council Lid 6. y �� ly L-j <br />August 27, 1984 <br />Regular Meeting <br />Page Five <br />------------------------------------ <br />---------------- <br />Mayor McCarty suggested the Councilmembers <br />Put their thoughts together on paper regarding <br />the airport issue, so they can be looked at <br />in detail. <br />William Fritz, 8072 Long Lake Road, stated he was <br />against Item C of the consant agenda, as he feels <br />the City has too many stop signs already. <br />Mayor McCarty recommended asking the County if <br />stop signs would accomplish what they think they <br />would, and he made a suggested change to the <br />proposed resolution. <br />Mayor McCarty closed the regular meeting and 6. <br />Public <br />opened the public hearing at 9:05 PM. <br />Hearing - <br />Clerk -Administrator Pauley re orted the <br />Cable TV <br />Franchise <br />the problems with the language of the <br />Amdt. No. <br />resolution should be resolved soon. <br />1 <br />Attorney Meyers clarified the situation. <br />Roger Franke stated they have not run into <br />this problem before with other cities, and that <br />6 out of 10 cities have responded in the <br />affirmative to this amendment. <br />There was discussion among the Council as to <br />whether the Charter would require a public <br />hearing on a rate increase. <br />Mayor McCarty stated they should amend the <br />proposed amendment to the franchise, rather <br />than amend the Charter to fit the contract. <br />Councilmember Blanchard asked for an explanation <br />of the problems Group W has been experiencing, and <br />why they have not been able to live up to their <br />promises. <br />Mr. Schuster explained the cable tv industry as a <br />whole is having.a problem, as cable tv franchises <br />overbid. He added the problem is due to economics. <br />Mrs. Fritz stated they had had a problem with the <br />way the workman handled themselves while they were <br />on their property. Mr. Franke apologized and stated <br />that he is working for the citizens and anyone who <br />has a problem should contact him. <br />Mr. Schuster stated that customer relations are very <br />important to them. <br />
