MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR ( J;Vi
DATE: NOVEMBER 29, 1984 - v
SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CONTROLS AT LONG LAKE ROAD AND HILLVIEW
ROAD
As you may recall, the City received a petition from
residents along the northern end of Long Lake Road
requesting that the City consider the placement of traffic
controls along Long Lake Road in order to control the speed
of traffic on that section of roadway. The City Council
adopted Resolution No. 1784 on August 27, 1984 requesting
that Ramsey County consider the placement of a four way stop
intersection at Long Road and Hillview Road.
Attached is a copy of a Request for Board Action Ramsey
County from the Ramsey County Public Works Department
evaluating the City's request for a four way stop inter-
section and recommending to the County Board that they
approved the retention of existing traffic controls due
to the fart that conditions at that intersection do not meet
the requirements they have set forth for placement of a four
way stop intersection.
Due to the fact that the City Council took a position of
requesting County consideration and since the County has
given our request its consideration and determined that a
four way stop intersection would not be appropriate, Staff
would propose to take no further action on this item other
than to advise those petitioning residents of the
determination of the County Board. Should Council have any
other direction they wish the City Staff to take on this
item, please advise.
DFP/mjs
Attachment:
