MEMO TO: Clerk -Administrator and City Council ////
FROM: Director of Public Works/Community Developme.ntlar.4
DATE: November 14, 1984 ""
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF CITY PROJECT 84-4 AND FINAL PAYN.ENT
Midwest Asphalt Corporation, contractor for City Project 84-4,
has completed the contract. The contractor reconstructed
Groveland Road from Laport to Ardan and Ardan Avenue from
Groveland to Fairchild. He also patched, seal coated, and
overlayed streets in the southern portion of the City. A map
of the City entitled, "Plans for Street Maintenance Project
1984-4", dated June 14, 1984 is attached for your review.
The City's contract with Midwest Asphalt Corporation is in
the amount of $138,138.50. The contractor has completed the
work for a total cost of $109,988.51. We are presented
retaining $3,447.11.
I recommend that the City accept the project and authorize final
payment and release of the retainage in the amount of $3,447.11.
The cost savings of approximately $30,000.00 is due to the fact
that soil correction work on the Groveland and Ardan reconstruction
area was not as extensive as previously anticipated.
SWT/bc
Attachment
