0.
r
MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL 1
FROM: CLERK-ADMINISTRATOR ,,)
DATE: NOVEMBER 28, 1984
SUBJECT: MAMA JOINT COMPENSATION STUDY
As you know, the Metropolitan Area Management Association
(MAMA) has been sponsoring an effort to seek proposals and
select a consultant to perform a Joint Compensation Study
for all MAMA member cities plus any outstate cities. This
study would develop the program and procedures necessary for
all participating cities to comply with the requirements of
the 1984 Comparable Worth Legislation. A summary of the
process is attached for your information.
The City of Mounds View committed financial support to the
first phase of the study which was the preparation of an RFP
and selection of a consultant. We are now being asked
to commit to the second phase which is the study itself.
The MAMA RFP Committee has selected Control Data Business
Advisors, Inc. as the consultant to perform the study. The
. cost of the City's participation is estimated to be between
$3,900 and $4,500 depending on the number of cities
participating.
On December 4th I will be attending a meeting where I will
be asked to commit the City on Phase II. Considering the
minimal cost that the City would experience and the
advantages of participating in a joint study which we have
previously discussed, I would request Council authorization
to commit to participation in Phase II of the MAMA Joint
Compensation Study.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize Staff to commit the City to
participation in Phase II of the MAMA Joint Compensation
Study at a cost not to exceed $4,500.00.
DFP/mjs
cZ: Department Heads
