MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR
DATE: MARCH 11, 1985
SUBJECT: 1985 CLEAN UP DAY
As you know, each year the City schedules a Saturday where
the City makes available to the residents of Mounds View,
for a minimal charge, facilities where they may dispose of
surplus items in their homes and on their property.
As I recently indicated to you the 1984 Clean -Up Day could
be considered the most successful the City has yet to hold
in that more material was removed than ever before at a net
loss to the City of $90.51 which is significantly less than
has ever been experienced by the City in the past.
Normally, Clean -Up Day is scheduled for a Saturday in May,
other than fishing opener weekend, which is the weekend of
May 18th. Staff would recommend Council consider scheduling
Clean -Up Day either for Saturday, May llth or 25th.
Also, attached to this memorandum for your information is a
letter and proclamation from Governor Rudy Perpich
proclaiming May 1985 as Minnesota Beautiful Month. It would
strike Staff that our scheduling of Clean-UD Day during the
month of May would be consistent with the efforts of the
Governor to have clean-up, recycling and beautification
programs throughout the state during that month.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff would recommend scheduling of
Clean -Up Day for Saturday, May llth or 25th, 1985.
