"Minnesota Cities: Building for the Future" is the <br />theme of the 1985 League of Minnesota Cities Annual <br />Conference, June 11.14. Headquarters for the event is the <br />Radisson St. Paul. <br />General sessions will feature distinguished speakers <br />such as Henry Cisneros, mayor of San Antonio. Topics of <br />interest to all sizes of cities have been scheduled through- <br />out the three and a half days. <br />City officials will find the conference to be an'exceptional <br />opportunity to learn what they need to know about a <br />variety of timely issues. Special sessions will summarize <br />results of recent legislative action regarding local govern- <br />ment aid, property tax reform, industrial and mortgage <br />revenue bonds, and discuss implications for local govern- <br />ment. "How To Be An Effective Council <br />Member" is a sequence of sessions looking at personal <br />effectiveness, group effectiveness, and the council-man- <br />ager form of government. <br />"City Exchange" will again give city officials an opportu- <br />nity to discuss specialized topics in small groups. in <br />addition, representatives from various agencies will be on <br />hand throughout the conference to answer your questions. <br />St. Paul in June is a showcase for fun and recreation and <br />a variety of events will be available for delegates and <br />families alike. "City Night" will feature entertainment at <br />the magnificent Ordway Theater for starters. <br />From the Tuesday evening kickoff to the Friday finale <br />brunch, the conference experience will be packed full of <br />important information, interesting people, and inspirational <br />ideas.
