Mounds View City Council May 13, 1985 <br />Regular Meeting Page Two <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />Motion/Second: Haake/Quick to have the first reading of <br />Ordinance No. 390, an ordinance prohibiting development <br />of certain properties on an interim basis and waive <br />the reading. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley reviewed proposed Resolution <br />No. 1893. <br />City Attorney Meyers advised some changes in terminology <br />in the resolution. <br />Motion/Second: Blanchard/Quick to approve Resolution <br />o1 TOTTas amended, and waive the reading. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Motion Carried <br />Consideration of <br />Resolution No. <br />1893 <br />Motion Carried <br />Finance Director Brager reviewed the insurance proposals 9. Consideration of <br />received. He explained the quotes are $32,090 greater Insurance <br />than the 1984-85 rates, which is a 108% increase. He Renewals <br />explained also that many other municipalities have <br />experienced the same increase. <br />Councilmember Haake expressed concern over receiving the <br />quotations so late, as the City's insurance expired on <br />May 1, and she also questioned the need to the City to <br />have an insurance consultant. She stated she would like <br />to do some checking herself in the next few months, to <br />see if she could locate some better rates. <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley stated Staff would be setting <br />up a meeting with the insurance consultant and the agents <br />as soon as the binders are received, and Staff will make <br />recommendations to the Council. <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Blanchard to renew the City's various <br />insurance policies through Transcontinental Brokers, Inc. <br />in the amount of $61,883.00, and authorize a budget <br />transfer of $25,724 from the 1985 general fund contingency <br />account to the various insurance accounts to cover the <br />unanticipated increase in insurance premiums. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauely reviewed the memo of May 8, <br />1985 from the Police Civil Service Commission. <br />Motion/Second: Linke/Quick to approve the hiring of <br />6av�erson as Police Officer, effective May 15, 1985, <br />with a probationary period of one year with salary and <br />benefits to be paid per Local Union Agreement. <br />Motion Carried <br />10.
