MEMO TO: Mounds View City 'ouncil <br />FROM: Bruce n , Director <br />parks, re t a d Forestry <br />DATE: July 3, 1985 <br />RE: Salary increase <br />The Mounds View Parks and Recreation Department has been fortun- <br />ate for the past five summers to have Deanna Mortenson employed <br />as a part-time summer clerical person through the Ramsey County <br />J.P.T.A. program. During the past five years, Deanna has proven <br />to be an outstanding employee and served our clerical needs as <br />well as providing general office assistance in a myriad of ways <br />including program registration, typing, artwork, city brochure <br />preparation, filing and xeroxing. <br />The summer J.P.T.A. program pays Ms. Mortenson $3.35 per hour of <br />which the City has always subsidized an additional pay increase <br />during the past four years to better reflect her skills and bene- <br />fit to our department. Staff would like to propose that Ms. <br />Mortenson's salary be established at $5.00 per hour for the sum- <br />mer commencing June 24, 1985. Ms. Mortenson's salary was estab- <br />lished at $4.50 per hour in 1984 and staff feels strongly that <br />her skills and past experience benefit our department. <br />Staff has budgeted the additional dollars based on $1.65/hour, <br />under the general recreation fund for part-time staff and it <br />would cost the City an additional $660 based on $66.00 per week <br />for ten weeks. <br />RECOMMENDATION: To set Deanna Mortenson's salary at $5.00 per <br />hour based on a $1.65 subsidy from the City of Mounds View and <br />$3.35 from the Ramsey County J.P.T.A. program commencing June 24, <br />1985 with the City's portion to be paid from the general recrea- <br />tion part-time salary account. <br />BKA/sll <br />
