Item No: 8J <br /> Meeting Date: March 24, 2025 <br /> MOUNDSVIEW Type of Business: Council Business <br /> Administrator Review: <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From: Don Peterson, Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br /> Item Title/Subject: Resolution 10080, Authorize Repairs to the 2011 Vactor, Unit#836, <br /> International 7400 <br /> Background / Discussion: <br /> During routine maintenance the City mechanic found the engine coolant was low, it was filled and <br /> it resumed normal operations of cleaning the sewer mains. During maintenance operations, <br /> several check engine lights came on. <br /> The unit was sent to Astleford International in Minneapolis, and it was diagnosed with the <br /> following: <br /> • low fuel pressure <br /> • plugged EGR valve <br /> • severe coolant leak <br /> Astleford estimated the repairs needed to the fuel system, EGR valve, coolant and exhaust <br /> manifold of$11,955.00. <br /> The Vactor is used to clean the sanitary sewer lines and is needed for emergencies when the <br /> sewer main becomes plugged. This unit is scheduled to be replaced in 2026. <br /> Staff received a final repair invoice from Astleford International for$15,488.16. <br /> Repairs are budgeted in the Sanitary Sewer Fund 730-4823-5130, which includes $15,000.00. <br /> Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br /> Financial Impact: No Impact to the 2025 Budget as repairs are budgeted in the Sanitary Sewer <br /> Fund, account 730-4823-5130. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Staff recommends that Council approve the repair quote from Astleford International of <br /> Minneapolis, MN for $15,488.16, from the Sanitary Sewer Fund, account 730-4823-5130. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Don Peterson <br /> Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br /> The Mounds View Vision <br /> A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
