The policy states employees <br /> will receive 50% of tuition prior to the class beginning and 50% when the course is <br /> successfully completed. On June 24, 2024, the City Council adopted Resolution 9943, <br /> authorizing the recruitment of Community Service Officers (CSO) at the City, which is a <br /> way to prepare Law Enforcement students on the job training to become Police Officers <br /> for the City of Mounds View. CSOs are eligible to use the Police Tuition Reimbursement <br /> Policy. <br /> Discussion: <br /> To encourage current and future Community Service Officers to stay with the City of <br /> Mounds View, staff is requesting to go outside the parameters of the Police Tuition <br /> Reimbursement Policy and pay up front for the final required course, SKILLS, to become <br /> a Police Officer in Minnesota for CSO Asa Overton. <br /> CSO Overton has proven to be an asset to the Police Department and is willing to become <br /> a sworn Mounds View Police Officer after completing the SKILLS requirement. Staff and <br /> the HR Committee support the request.
