JURISDICTION <br />On August 1, 1985, Northern States Power Company (NSP or the Company) <br />filed a petition with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (the <br />Commission) for an increase in electric rates pursuant to Minn. Scat. § 2168.16 <br />(1984). On September 18, 1985. the Commission issued its Order Accepting <br />Filing and Suspending Rates. <br />The Commission finds that a hearing is necessary in the above matter <br />to determine the reasonableness of the electric rate changes proposed by W. <br />The Commission is authorized to conduct such a hearing by Minn. Stat. § 2168.1 <br />(1984). <br />1I. PROPOSED RATES <br />The rates proposed by NSP would generate additicr_i annual revenues <br />of approximately $129,OCO,000.
