108.01 <br />CHAP'ITR ION <br />PUBLIC DANCE HALLS <br />lo8.ol Definitions. <br />¢i,hnlvision 1. public Dance Hall. A public dance hall is <br />hereby defined to be a building, room, place or space open to or <br />rented to the general public and operated and designed primarily <br />as a business to provide dancing facilities for a charge. <br />Subdivision 2. Public Dance. A public dance, as the term <br />is used herein, shall mean any dance wherein the public may <br />participate; whether or not a charue for admission for dancing is <br />made. <br />Subdivision 3. Private Dance. A private dance, as the <br />term is used herein, shall mean any dance held in a public dance <br />hall but where the yeneral public is not admitted. <br />108.02 License Required. No person, association, <br />partnership, or corporation shall directly or indirectly give, <br />hold, or conduct a public dance or a private dance, as defined <br />herein, unless the proprietor of the public dance hall, or the <br />person giving the same or in charge thereof, shall have first ob- <br />tained a license therefore from the Council; provided, however, <br />that the Council may in its discretion permit ay lodge or <br />society not ory3nized or maintained for profit, or community or <br />i, <br />non•profir organ,.zutiun to conduct infrequent public dances <br />without `einy licensed as herein provided. <br />11,R.07 license A_ pplication. Every a,plicatecn for 3 <br />public dance nail license shall he verified and filed with the <br />Clerk -Administrator. It shall state the name of the applicant, <br />his age, representations &s to hi= chara:te:, with references as <br />may be required, his citizenship, whether the applicant is owner <br />o: opera'_or of the business, how long he or she has been in that <br />business at that location, and such other information as the <br />Council may require from time to time. No person shall make a <br />false statement in an application. <br />,nw. n1 Denial or Revocation of License. Any applicant or <br />licensee shall be a person o. good Loral charac•e and reputation <br />and shall not have been converted of a felony, yioss misdemeanor, <br />or crime invnlviny moral turpitude, and any person ttat is 4 <br />licensee, and who is convicted of a felony, gross misdemeanor cr <br />crime involving moral turpitude, or a violation of this chapter, <br />shall have his license revoked upon such terms and conditions as <br />determined by the Council. No license shall be issued or renewed <br />for any public dance hall which is not properly ventilated and <br />equipped with necessary tiolets, washrooms, and lighting facili- <br />ties. nor to any place likely to become a public nuisance or <br />detrimental to public morals. <br />
