39.14 <br />100*1 (7) All signs and sign structures shall be maintained is <br />a safe condition and in a state of good repair at all times. No <br />sign shall display matter that has been deemed obscene by a court <br />of competent jurisdiction. <br />(8) Each sign shall be used and maintained only in the <br />manner permitted and subject to the conditions imposed at the <br />time the permit therefor was granted. <br />subdivision 2. Additional Conditions. The following <br />additional conditions shall be observed: <br />(1) No ground sign -teseept- temporary- s4gnsT-parts 154e---- <br />s4g-waT-er-banners ), signboard or billboard shall approach at any <br />point nearer than three (3) teet to any building unless such sign <br />is placed parallel to the side of the building; nor shall any <br />such sign be placed within six (6) feet of the side of any lot, <br />nor nearer than fifteen (15) feet to any street line where there <br />is no established or customary building line, nor within twenty <br />five (25) feet of any street corner right-of-way. Whenever the <br />established or customary uniform building line upon the street <br />where such ground sign is to be erected is more than fifteen (15) <br />feet from the street or property line, then such sign shall not <br />approach nearer the street than the established or customary <br />uniform building line. <br />(2) The owner, lessee, or occupant of the land on which <br />the ground sign is located, and the owner of the sign, shall keep <br />the property on which the sign is located free of long grass, <br />weeds nr other rank growth, rubbish or debris. <br />(3) All parts of ground signs shall be designed for wind <br />pressure of not less than thirty (30) pounds per square foot, end <br />ground signs of wood construction shall have all ,nembers which <br />extend into the ground protected from decay by treatment with a <br />preservati,re approved by the Building Inspector. <br />t4) No permit shall be granted for the location of any <br />ground sign having a sign area of more than forty (401 square <br />feet, within one hund-ed (100) feet of any single family resi- <br />dence; provided that the Council may grant a special permit <br />herefor if the owner of such residence gives his written consent <br />thereto. <br />(5) Pedestal signs permitted by the zoning regulations of <br />the Municipality and by this chapter may be locae.l adjaceit to <br />the right-of-way of a street or highway, but no part thereof <br />shall extend over such right-of-way. <br />(6) No sign shall exceed thirty-five (35) feet in height. <br />
