The <br />Education Committee, which is composed <br />of business people and educators, is <br />dedicated to provide.quality career <br />development programs for students, <br />educators, and business people. <br />Who's Included? <br />Six area School Districts <br />Centennial # 12 <br />Mounds View # 621 <br />North St. Paul/Maplewood # 622 <br />Roseville # 623 <br />St, Anthony # 282 <br />South Washington County # 833 <br />Twelve Area High Schools <br />Concordia Academy <br />Centennial High School <br />Hill -Murray High School <br />Irondale High School <br />Kellogg Senior High <br />Mounds View Senior High <br />North High School <br />Ramsey Senior High <br />Village of St. Anthony High School <br />St. Bernard High School <br />Tartan High School <br />Woodbury High School <br />PROGRAMS <br />Welcome New Teachers Luncheon <br />An annual luncheon welcoming new teach- <br />ers in the area school districts <br />FACT: 75 new teachers were welcomed <br />last year. <br />Student Shadowing <br />An opportunity for students for a half <br />day, on a one to one basis, to visit <br />and observe any occupation of their <br />interest. <br />Examples include: <br />*Banking *Secretarial <br />*Nursing *Accounting <br />*Computers *Lawyers <br />FACT: 241 students participated in <br />the 1981-82 school year. <br />CAREER DEVELOPMENT: <br />An opportunity for a group of high <br />school students to meet with a number <br />of business representatives to obtain <br />more insight into a variety of inter- <br />esting occupations. <br />FACT: 175 People participated in <br />1981-82. <br />BUSINESS EDUCATION LUNCHEON: <br />A bi-monthly luncheon featuring a <br />speaker in the field of education, <br />finance, marketing, personnel, re- <br />tailing and other areas. The ob- <br />jective is to promote mutual under- <br />standing between educators and busin- <br />ess people. <br />FACT: Five luncheons attracted over <br />300 people. <br />Educator Workshops <br />A series of workshops, two -three <br />hours in length, designed to provid <br />more indepth knowledge on a variety <br />of subjects pertinent to the claser <br />*Financing <br />*Career Development <br />*Economics <br />*Resume writing <br />FACT: 400 educators attended last <br />year's workshops. <br />CAREER EXPLORATION: <br />A visit by a class of students to <br />specific occupation of interest to <br />explore future career opportunitte <br />FACT: Three classes visited area <br />inesses last year. <br />SPEAKERS BUREAU: <br />The chamber will provide assistant <br />in obtaining a speaker for an edul <br />tional presentation. <br />FACT: 51 speakers were placed in <br />classroom speaking engagem <br />last year. <br />ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT BANQUET: <br />An annual banquet honoring academ, <br />achievers from each high school ii <br />the fields of speech, drama, musil <br />student services, student public- <br />ations and academics. <br />FACT: 72 seniors and 225 people <br />— tended the banquet last Me <br />
