He also stdteJ <br />that they are meeting all the Charter requirements <br />and he did not feel it was a concern in having an <br />off vear election. He stated that he feels that <br />ds long as the candidates for County Commissiun^r <br />can get their literature out, the park department <br />can also. <br />Councilmember Hankner stated her major concern is <br />in getting the information out to the residents. <br />U'll Frits stated he felt the trmeframv wau very <br />poor, and that for getting the information out, <br />they do not have an organized political group to <br />help them. He also questioned the thoroughness <br />of the report, stating that there already is a <br />drinking fountain at Hillview Park, yet the plan <br />calls for the installation on one there. He also <br />stated he feels the residents should be given <br />complete information on what the money would be <br />spent on, and where thinqs would be going, so they <br />would know just what they are voting on. <br />Mr. McCarty stated that off year elections have <br />proven to be undesirable and he did not feel they <br />could expect a good turnout. <br />Mayor Linke stated he felt the newsletter should <br />be cleaned up to make it more neutral, and that <br />if the citizens are informed and choose not to <br />vote, they hive no right to complain afterwards. <br />Park Uircctor Anderson explaine,' that if the <br />referenoum passes, they would do a direct rt.ailinq <br />to tncse affected and conduct public hearings to <br />tell them what is planned for their areas. <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Hankner to approve Resolution <br />No. 1964, calling for a special election on <br />January 21, 1986 and waive the reading. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Mot-on/Second: Quick/Blanchard to adjourn the 12 <br />meeting at 8:29 PH. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Donald F.
