RESOI.uTION Nu. 1974 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />C(RINTY OF RAMSF:Y <br />STATI OV MINNCSOI'A <br />RESOLUTION UPhISING THL CONSOLIUATIuN tit' I'Ht: HAMSt:Y <br />COIIN1'Y MIINII'IPAI COORT NYSTEM 14Ir11011T FLlkl'llt'R 1:'I'IrIY AND <br />ANALYSIS <br />WHEREAS, the Legislative c. immitbm of the Ram;.y <br />County Board of Commissioners has recommended that Ihu <br />County Board seek 1,.gislarion amending Minnesota Statutes <br />Section 08A.18, Subdivision 10 in a manner which would <br />allow for the consolidation of the existing five suburban <br />Municlpal Courts ir,ro a single 1ncAtion outside of r1w Pity <br />of Saint Paul; and <br />WHEREAS, the Legislative Committee offered n.• <br />recommendations with rasp.it to the location .11 J Mnoirlp.,l <br />Court in the Ramsey County suburbs which would be m-,7esslble <br />to all residents nor did they suggest an analysis of this <br />issue h,- made prior to the introduction of the prop.�,•d <br />legislation; and <br />WHEREAS, the County Board on several nccassi,,ns since ' <br />the establishment of the Ramsey County Municipal C.,urt <br />System in 1975 has suggested the need for the consolidation <br />of the Municipal Court System; and <br />WHEREAS, strong opposition has been voiced by the <br />f suburban municipalities ,or a variety of reasons eAch time <br />this proposal is di�;cusaed; and <br />WHEREAS, many of the concerns voiced by the suhurbar <br />munioipAlities hay.• yet to he addressed by Ram-ey r',unty in <br />their evaluations of the feas.bility of the consolidation of <br />a Municipal Court SvAtem; and <br />WHEREAS, the Moun& View City Council feels that <br />these issues muss h.• addressed before any meaningful <br />discussions can orvur between the suburban municipalities <br />and Ru,3ey County c-necrning this issue. <br />NOW, THFREFORF, Fie I'r RESOLVED that the City ('nunril <br />of the Pity of Mounds View opposes any proposals on the part <br />of the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners to consolidate <br />the Ramsey County M.Inicip+l Court Syrtem until such time As <br />the following issu.•+ are addressed, meaningful discussions <br />have occurred and mituAl -onclusu)n reached. <br />
