-2- The cost to the City for the position would be the same or less by entering into a joint powers agreement with the City of New Brighton than we paid in 1984 due to the sharing of costs (see addendum B). The proposed timeline for the position is to receive approval from the City Council to advertise for the position on Monday, March 10 and to accept applications through March 21. Formal interviews would be the week of March 24, 1986 and hopefully we would hire an individual by mid -April to begin planninq for the 1986 summer season. Staff is considering developing a one year contract for the posi- tion so we can evaluatE the program to determine if a full-time position is needed and/or how the position needs to be struc- tured. Two possibilities that have been discussed are working 30 hours for eight months, September 1 - May 1 and then working 50 hours per week during the summer season, May - August. A second possibility is to expand our existing healthy lifestyle program offerings than were offered in 1984. At this time staff feels there will be more than enough work for the position with the opening of Long Lake Regional Park.
