MEMO To: Clerk -Administrator and City Council
Public Wnrks;Community Development Director
FROM: Public, Works Foreman/Building Inspector Roan
DATE: February 13, 1986
SUBJECT: MAINTENANCE BUILDING ADDITION
Last Fall we met and toured the maintenance building and
other facilities (i.e., wator and sewer plants) for your
,jono.ral informarinnal knowledy,. We divrds•u•1 thr need for
additional buildinq space for storage of vehirlos and
reviewed a floor plan of a possible addition. In the
process of thinKinq about those addirinnal needs, other
ideas were thrown out regardinq possibilities. One of those
ideas was a fall -out shelter beneath the new addition. This
matter was checked out by Mr. Thatcher and perceived to he
n„t advisahlo title to de.lroo ref diffirulty and eiAin for the
City. It is the dopdItmoittis plan tr, Iinm• I, laoninl Ih,-
improvement, designing basic floor plan and structure detail
in which to base costs so that it can be planed in the
capital impt.ty--mrnr plan in this yo.,r's hudgoting.
Therefore, since we have not met since last fall, the
department believes that it would be worth our time and
effort one more time to diSruSs the huildinq addition with
you to assure that we are meotinq the needs t,f the community
for an additional 20-30-50 years with whatever we plan. The
main point of discussion should he what you perceive a
potential service level rhangps that would require equipment
and/fir manpower. Examples could he snowplowing and turf
maintenance.
None of these items by themselves could cause .a rhange in
the basic flour plan that wo have shown yen th, date, huh any
number of them could change how we might want tit design the
building.
1 look forward to discussinq these needs with you.
Thank you.
SAR/bac
