The City received the following bids:
1. Foss Sweepinq S43.00/hour
2. American Sweepers, Inc. $46.25/hour
3. Allied Blacktop Company $49.50/hour
4. The bid security
was not provided by any of the bidders. Therefore, I called the
two low bidders and asked them to provide a bid security. I also
asked them if they could lower their bid price.
Foss Sweeping and American Sweepers, Inc. provided bid security.
Foss Sweeping indicated that his price of $43.00 per hour is the
lowest price he can provide. American Sweepers, Inc. provided a
bid price of $42.50 per hour if the City swept the streets in the
sprinq and the fall. American Sweepers, Inc. indicated in
writing that they would sweep the streets in the sprinq only for
$42.50 per hour.
American Sweepers, Inc. cleaned our streets las'. year for $46.50
per hour. They are a reputable contractor and do quality work.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend awardinq 1986 sprinq sweeping to
American Sweepers, Inc. for S42.50 per hour for a not to exceed
price of $4,600.00.
SWT/bac
I
