MEMO 10: Planning Crimmission T
FROM: Dirrrror of Public Works/Community la-volopmvnjt4:
/
DAI'E: January 6, 1986
susJF.CT: M.T.U. PARK/RIDE. FACII.11"i
The M.T.C. proposes to install a 52 space park/ride facility on
the south side of County Rudd II, vast of Il1ghway I" end west 'It
1-35W. The park/ride facility will include a 7 toot by 16 font
bus shelter and 2 handicapped parkins spaces. The proposed
facility is not in a wetland or ilon,l pl.iin zone.
. Concrete curbing with the 11-6-18 design is requirea and not shrwn
on the drawing. The county may want to requir.• the west
entrance/exit be moved a few fret to the west so' that it is
directly across the stre•sr from an intersortinq road, thereby,
reducing traffir hazards. The curb cut!; are designed for buses
and are 24 hoot wide with the appropriate radiuses.
Please note that there are no property lines in this area as far
as I can tell. As far as I know, the Minnesota M-parteN•nr got
Transportation owns this property. The parking spaces closest to
the street have curb and gutter that comes within ID feet of the
\ road surface. The City Codes states that. parking areas may bot
within 5 feet of the property line. Since there is no property
lines, as tar as I ran tell, how far should the closest parking
spaces be to the edge of the rounty road? The boulevard is
normally 11 or 12 feet wide whirh means that the normal parking
spaces are within 16 or 17 feet of the road surface.
One other point is that this area is not zoned at the present
time.
Drawing 113 of 119 shows the lighting plan. This plan, fill all
intent and purposes meets the rode requirements.
'Me plans must tile approved by Ramsey Cnunty and Rice Creek
Watershed District prior to discussion.
SWT/bac
