He pointed out, though, that those nieetir.gs
often last until 2 AM. He stated that approximately
751 of the business on the Mounds View agenda would be
eliminated if the City had a Manager form of government.
Councilmember Blanchard stated she could remember sittinq
in the audience at Council meetings until 1 or 2 in the
morning, which she does not what to see again. She
pointed uuL the meetings are scheduled and the public is
aware of them. She also stated she
feels it is good to do the consent aqenda and housekeeping
items before the regular meeting, and that any item can he
pulled for discussion at any time.
Councilmember Blanchard stated she does not, feel the
citizens wanL Lu sit in the Council chambers until 1 or
2 in the morning, and the City conducts public hearings
and notices are sent out and items are publicized in
the newspaper, so the citizens can know what is going
on and it is their decision whether they want to attend
the meetings. She added she does not feel the agenda
sessions are cutting off information to the people.
It was agreed that the Council would discuss the issue
further at the next aqenda session and look at the
options available.
Councilmember Hankner expressed displeasure at the fact
the locks were changed at City Hall the previous
Friday, and she was not informed and had a difficult
time tracking down a key to get into the building to
get her Council packet. She asked the Staff try to
make sure everyone is informed of changes such as
that, to dlleviate problems in the future.
Councilmember Bla..,fiard reported the Fire Department
is locking for daytime volunteer fire fighters.
Councilmember Quick had no report.
Mayor Linke reported he attended "Chalkboard Capers"',
presented by District 1621 teachers, and had found it
to he a very cntertaininy production.
Mayor Links reminded everyone of the City Appreciation
Dinner, scheduled for April 19 at the Bel Rae Ballroom.
