MEMO to Parks 6.Recreation COmmissioiiers Page 3 - <br />July 24, 1960 . <br />i. Tennis Courts - The Consultant recommended <br />5101,600 which was for4 lit tennis courts at both <br />Greenfield Park and Groveland Park. Staff would <br />recommend that the tennis courts at Greenfield <br />Park not be lit which would be a savings of <br />18,500. This would leave a total of $83,100 for <br />tennis courts. <br />j. Walking Trails - The Consultant recommended <br />37,775 for the construction of walking trails at <br />a number of neighborhood parks. Staff would recom- <br />mend that the proposed Vita Trail at City Aall Park <br />be eliminated at a cost of $7,300, leaving a total <br />of $30,475 for park hiking/walking trails. <br />k. Multi-PUrpose Courts - The Consultant recommended . <br />96,400 for multi-purpose courts. Staff would <br />recommend that the total be reduced $70,900 by <br />deleting $26,000 for the construction of courts at - <br />Greenfield and City Hall Parks. . . <br />1. Hockey Rinks - The Consultant Yecommended 54 2,650 <br />for the relocation and/or demolition of hockey . <br />rinks at Lambert,Hillview, and Woodcrest Parks. <br />As the building of the retaining walls is an . <br />extremel"y important feature o£ the redesigp of <br />the park sites. Staff would recommend that ET7is <br />number stay the same. <br />m. Pleasure Skating Rinks - The Consultant recommended <br />38,650 iar the regrading of the existing pledsure <br />skating .:reas, as this will greatly reduce Patk <br />Maintenance costs. Staff would recommend that the <br />skating rink regrading remain. <br />n. Archery Range - The Consultant recommended $7,100 <br />for the construction of an archery range at Green- <br />field Park and Staff would concur. <br />o. Volleyball Courts - The Consultant recommended $1,150 <br />for the construction of neiqhborhood volleyball <br />courts a..d Staff would concur with this recommendatiod. : <br />p. Horseahoe Pits - The Consultant recommended that 9 <br />sets of horseshoe courts be built and/or relocat d <br />at a cost of $500 for a total of $2,000. Sta££ would - <br />concur with this recommendation also. ....
