Anderson, Direc[or, Padks,, ', i- <br />Recreation and Foreatry DeparEmeht ,' <br />DATE: Fehruary 26, 1980 <br />RE: Monthly llpda[e <br />The purpose of [hie report is to keep the Parks and Recreation Comniasion in- <br />formed on current iesues within the Parks, Recreation and Foreatry Department <br />that do not need official Commisaion action: <br />1. 1980 Tre <br />city tre <br />Arpa Tre <br />February <br />March 3, <br />Contract Awarded - The Mounds View City Council avarded the <br />removal contract to Arpa Tree Service on Monday, February 25, 1980. <br />Service contract will co ence March 1, 1980 and conclude on <br />28, 1981. The Foreatry Diviaion will begin the woodpile survey <br />1980 and begin iseuing citations i moediatly. <br />2. New Secretary - Sandy Wheaton aseumed her reaponsibilities as our depart- <br />ment secretary on Tuesday, February 19, 1980. Sandy is a Mounda Viev <br />resident who graduated from Irondale High School and attended the Univerelty <br />of Minneao[a. Her pas[ vork experience was with Paul Bunyan, a spozting <br />gooda wholesaler firm for 14 months. Pat Casci reeigned to accept a <br />new position as secretary to the President of the Maplewood State Bank. <br />3. Fridley Ethnic Festival - Enclosed is a brief flyer on a major community <br />celebration to be held March 29th at Parkview Elementary School in Fridley. <br />Although I have not attended the festival I underatend it !e extremely <br />well done. <br />4. Softball Tournement - Mr. Red Gamelin, repreeenting the Spring Lake Park <br />Mooee Lodge haa requeated to reserve the softball fielda at City Hall on <br />Jme 1th and 8th. The toucnamen[ will involve eixteen teams and he aill <br />be requesting an exemption from Che park policy fee achedule based on <br />Civic involvement at a later date. <br />5. Spring Brochure - The Spring recreation brochure will be malled to all <br />Mounda Viev reeidente on Friday, March 21, 1980. If you have any program <br />euggeetione that you vould like to aee !m{+lemented for Spring or Su er> <br />pleaae feel free to ehare them mith etaff. <br />b. Satellitee - Staff hae received a number of complainta about the lack of <br />satellite facilitiee for our au ner parka progrem from area resident. <br />As the Commiselon ie eware thia item has been cut from ehe 1980 budget for <br />the third year.
