I MO T0: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commis: <br />FROM: Staff <br />DATG: December 2, 1980 <br />RE: Lakeside Park Commission Update <br />ommissioner Bowman will be updating the Commission on Thursday <br />regasding the current status of the Lakeside Park Commission and <br />the possible role the City might have in future ears Y . <br />The Lakeside Park Commission at their regularly scheduled meeting <br />on Tuesday, November 18, 1980 made two motions and I am paraphrasing: <br />L The Lakeside Park Commission will no longer. continue . <br />in its present status as a"working^Commission. They <br />are willing to remain intact as an advisory board, but <br />will not continue to do the daily leg work of: <br />a. Setting up special events <br />b. Managing personnel . <br />c. Parform routine maintenance <br />d. Complete daily bookkeeping responsibilities. <br />2. The Commission directed the respective City staff personnel'<' <br />to prepare a resolution for their City Councils requestingRamseyCountytotakeapositiononthefuturedisposition <br />of I.akeside Park no later than February 13, 1981. <br />Staff has been requested to take a low profile on this issue as it <br />is a policy-oriented issue rather than adminstrative. <br />Questions that need to be addressed by the Commissian: <br />1. Potential impact on City of Mounds View should the <br />Lakeside Park Commission dissipate. <br />2. Can Mounds View justify maintaining a beach operation <br />that serves an area beyond our jurisdiction7 <br />3. What type of joint powers agre ment should be developed <br />with Spring Lake Park? <br />4. Can the City of Mounds View maintain the baech fadlityetitscurrentlevel? - . <br />S.
