Rack to Normal - Tt is ple:sure for staff to be <br />able to deliver a"regular" Commission packet with <br />minutes, updates, etc. for the first time in four <br />months. During the past 8 months we have held 29 <br />park board meetings which roust be some kind of record. <br />Thanks again far vour perse-erance. <br />Jack Shiclds - City Forester - As I stated in an earlier <br />note our City Forester has been diagnosed as having <br />inopernble cancer. Chairman 6u meister and ! agreed <br />to send a flowering plant on behalf of the Commission <br />to wish him a speedy recovery. Jack is still not <br />feeling well but has been making it in to work once <br />or twice a week for 2 hour stretches. He has been <br />undergoing extensive radiation and chemotheaapy treat- <br />ments bnt no positive diagnosis has developed. <br />3. C.E.T.A. - We currently have two C.E.T.A. maintenance <br />men working 15 hours/week during che school year. They <br />have been assuming the majority o£ the forestry respon- <br />sibilities during .Iacks ubsmicc. <br />i <br />1. Trees planted - t9e have planted 18 new trees at Groveland <br />and ]2 at Oakwood Park. They really are a welcome addition. <br />Unfortunately we lost 4 more trees due to vandalism durirtg <br />ihe past week at Lambert P1rk. They uere sawed off, explain <br />that one tn me. <br />5. Student Tntern - 1t appe:rs U t we will bc receiving another <br />student intern Katy Clcason from I.nCrossc. She will be <br />in[ci'ning Irum Janua y - April. .:.: <br />b.
