CIRCULAR 6-16S <br />C2M O O 1 N E February,t@90 <br />GAS -FIRED DUCT FURNACES <br />application versatility <br />Gas -fired duct furnaces are practically unlimited in their <br />annlinahnn ae _ heat easource in centrpr dtuc- <br />_ 17 Ye „ <br />conditioning or in straight heating systems, as boos!ers <br />and reheat units. for tempering make-up air and in process <br />drying Modine duct furnaces offer the systems designer, <br />the installer, and building owner many important <br />advantages <br />Limitations in installation height can usually be met <br />by using two or more duct furnaces which can be installed <br />side by side or in tandem. Btu requirements exceeding <br />the capacity of the largest model duct furnace may also <br />dictate the combined use of smaller models whose total <br />capacity matches the Btu requirement, when furnaces <br />are installed in combination. they may be operated in- <br />dependently or interconnected for simultaneous <br />automatic operation. <br />Types of gases that may be used are natural and <br />propane <br />product benefits <br />Long -life heat exchangers — Modine heat exchanger de- <br />sign accomodates the need for greater Cfm requirements <br />of air-conditioning systems without the necessity forpro- <br />viding expensive bypass ducts and dampers. Low pres- <br />sure drops and correspr:nding reduced tan horsepower <br />demands are significant advantages of the heat exchanger <br />design. An air distribution baffel (standard on all models) <br />can be removed to further reduce air pressure drop when <br />applied to systems designed for higher Cfm, A.G.A_ and <br />C.G.A. certified for downstream application from cooling <br />coils. <br />Extensive use of corrosion -resistant metal — Important <br />where duct furnaces are used in connection with air- <br />cooling systems. Casing, heat exchanger and burner are <br />made from long -life corrosion -resistant, aluminized steel. <br />Lightweight, trims Installation costs — Corrosion. <br />resistant aluminized steel burners, heat exchangers, and <br />casings contribute toward a drastic reduction in weight. <br />Easier to handle. install faster and save the cost of provid- <br />ing for special ceiling supports and reinforcements. <br />Mounting holes permit easy attachment of 16" diameter <br />rods for overhead suspension. Attachment of ductwork <br />is facilitated by flanges on both sides of heat exchanger <br />section, <br />Self-cleaning, oversize burner ports — Lint -free pilot <br />burner, externally mounted safety control group: combin- <br />ation dram pan and secondary air baffle reduce main- <br />tenance and improve performance of Modine duct <br />furnaces. <br />Automatic controls — Provide complete accessibility and <br />safety Includes t00% gas shut-off system, pressure reg- <br />ulator, over -heat control and tow -voltage transformer <br />with terminal board type connection. <br />Air flow through unit is reversible — Permits locating <br />controls and vent for maximum accessibility. <br />
