11CI <br />Recreational <br />To prepare <br />Master Plan for <br />recreational plans for <br />Public Use <br />each of six Corps of <br />Development <br />Engineers operated <br />areas In the <br />Mississippi River <br />Headwaters, It was <br />necessary to review a <br />variety of site -related <br />factors. These <br />included data <br />gathering and <br />evaluation of <br />demographics, <br />economics, <br />archeology, soils, <br />slope, hydrology, <br />vegetation, land use, <br />and existing <br />recreational lacilities. <br />The development of a <br />criteria framework <br />utilizing resource <br />capabilities, <br />recreational demand, <br />and operations <br />management, allowed <br />for a rational design <br />to evolve. <br />Significant design <br />elements vary from <br />site to site and <br />Include all or ■ <br />combination of the <br />following: camping, <br />plcnlcking, parking, <br />rest rooms, <br />Interpretive displays, <br />path and roadway <br />alignment, slgnage, <br />play fields, tot lots, <br />swimming besches, <br />boal ramps, docks, <br />and landscaping. <br />
