Our <br />understanding of land based physical features, <br />cult urallhlstorical considerations, visual <br />resources, and environmental sensitivity is <br />evidenced In each of the following projects. <br />Public Use Master Plan for Public Use Development and <br />Development Resource Management for the Mississippi River <br />Headwaters Resevoirs <br />The preparation of an up -date to the existing <br />plans of six recreation areas Including an <br />overview and inventory of North Central <br />Minnesota. The analysis and assessment <br />concentrated on demographics, economics, <br />archeology, history, soils, slope, hydrology, <br />vegetation capabilities, and land use. The eventual <br />design plans resulted from a logical approach to <br />resource management based on existing <br />conditions and projected needs. <br />Baseline Baseline Environmental Survey of the Twin Cities <br />Inventory Metropolitan Area <br />The project scope Included development of an <br />inventory and assessment of the ecological, <br />cultural, physical, and aesthetic characteristics of <br />the seven -county metropolitan area. The purpose <br />of the project was to provide a baseline data <br />source for on -going 201 Facilities Planning. The <br />work Involved research, compilation and <br />consolidation of existing data, up -dating and <br />providing additional sources of information. <br />Elements of the Inventory included detailed <br />analysis of factors related to climatology, <br />topography, geology, geomorphology, soils <br />hydrology, wetlands, water use, water quality, <br />landlwater interfaces, agriculture, land quality, <br />and environmental constraints. <br />Site Selection Site Selection lnvsn:wy for Southern Minnesota <br />Municipal Power Agency <br />As part of a site selection study for SMMPA, <br />Design Consortium was involved In the <br />preparation, inventory, and documentation of <br />cultural, biological, and physiographic factors <br />defined as exclusionary andlor avoidance areas <br />for development. This study assessed twenty-two <br />counties south of the Twin Cities. Existing data <br />was gathered and reviewed with State agencies <br />and Local units of government. <br />
