\Pl: -2 <br />,,on, MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR <br />DATE: APRIL 16, 1986 4P <br />SUBJECT: CITY HALL RECEPTIONIST <br />Now that we are aware that the State Legislature does not <br />intend on reducing state aids in 1986 in orde- to make up <br />for the State's budgetary 0ortfall, Staff requests Council <br />authorization to advertise for and interview applicants for <br />the full-time receptionist position which is included in the <br />1986 budget to begin on June 1, 1986. <br />Staff would be proposing the following schedule for the <br />advertising and interviewing process. <br />April 24 - New Brighton Bulletin Ad <br />April 27 - Mpls. Star and Tribune and St. Paul <br />Dispatch and Pioneer Press Ad <br />May 2 - Close Applications <br />May 5-14 - Interview Applicants <br />May 19 - Recommend Applicant to City Council <br />May 27 - City Council Authorize Hiring of Successful <br />Applicant <br />June 2 or <br />June 9 - Start of Employment <br />Staff would recommend advertising a wage of $6.00 to $6.25 <br />per hour which is within the budget provided for this <br />position. During the interview process we would indicate to <br />applicants chat a $.25 per hour increase would occur after 3 <br />months of successful performance and the 6 month review <br />would be reflected in tl:e 1987 wage adjustments. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff would request Council authorization <br />to advertise and interview for a full-time City Hall <br />Receptionist. <br />DPP; m 1 s <br />
